Vatican's strong diplomacy

During the last three years Pope Francis showed a strong skill in diplomatic stuff. A diplomacy made of pray and spirituality. In short a strong third millenium diplomacy in wich you can find words of peace and hope.

But in the case of Erdogan, the Turkey's leader,  this does not works. This is because a very critical point is the true story of the Armenians people a century ago.

The international community is working to give recognition about a terrible mass assassination. But the modern Turkey, despite his disavowal of the Ottoman Empire, does not recognize those millions of deaths as a GENOCIDE and rejects that term. Erdogan Claims that there was no ethnic persecution, but that there was WW1 and the Armenians were collaborationists with the Russian enemy.

The Armenian community suffered a diaspora and today wants to recover a full national identity in the eyes of the world and calls for the recognition of the GENOCIDE just like the Holocaust.
The Vatican’s attitude is favorable and Erdogan's tones were controversial.

This constitutes a bad premise for the apostolic journey of three days that could take place next June.
